Henna tatoos are made from a plant. They are painted onto the body, usually at times of celebration, such as a wedding. Professional artists come to the house and paint the women. It is a great time of bonding for the ladies (much like a hen’s night in western society) and they leave with beautiful designs on their bodies. These wear off after a few weeks.
I don’t think they are ever done on children. Far too time consuming and too expensive. Plus, the whole experience is wasted on kids. They want something quick and significant for them. Better to get rub on tats or face painting.
