My thoughts about tattoo

we can’t be too quick to say that something isn’t culturally relevant to us today especially something that was inspired by God who is eternal and is always relevant. Just because we do not need to build a parapet around our roof (deut 22:8 ) that doesn’t mean we can’t discover the reasons behind the laws that were given like in that case I believe it is about protecting the people that are in our care and our houses so you see that just because we may do things different that how they were done the meanings behind the laws still are very relevant today.
In the case of the marking of the skin and cutting yourself that verse refers to the practices and rituals of the followers of the local gods (at least the followers of baal but but I think other gods too) so if Gods people did the same thing then they would be in turn following another god and the following of another god is sinning because they were doing it deliberately. Getting a tattoo that honors God is not done in the same way or attitude that is done for other rituals.
I know of several Christians that if they didn’t have tattoos they would not be able to witness to people in a certain group or subculture. Its just like you can’t send someone to witness to a group of surfers if they don’t themselves like to surf because there will be no connection made because people have to be able to accept the messenger before they can accept the message.
I have the feeling that I have left something out but I’m sure someone will tell me
Oh and p.s Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together (thats just common sense
